The service

What is Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO)?

Conversion rate optimisation (CRO) is the practice of increasing the share of website visitors who complete a purchase, by finding where they hesitate or leave and fixing it with evidence. It uses analytics, heatmaps, session recordings and customer feedback to diagnose problems, then tests changes to product pages, cart, checkout, offers and trust signals to see which actually lift orders.

For Indian D2C stores the usual leaks are predictable: slow mobile pages, product pages that answer none of the buyer's questions, no clarity on size or ingredients, missing COD and delivery information, a cart with no reason to add more and a checkout with too many steps. gaa-tha fixes the obvious problems first, then runs A/B tests on the changes that carry risk, so every improvement is measured rather than assumed.

Scope

What's included

  • Funnel and analytics audit: GA4 events, drop-off by step, device and traffic source
  • Heatmaps, scroll maps and session recordings on product, cart and checkout pages
  • Product page fixes: above-the-fold clarity, image order, variant selectors, FAQs, delivery and COD information
  • Cart and checkout fixes: drawer cart, free-shipping progress bar, coupon logic, guest checkout, fewer fields
  • Trust elements: reviews, badges, return policy, WhatsApp support and founder story where it helps
  • Offer and bundle design: combos, kits, subscriptions and first-order incentives
  • A/B and split tests with a hypothesis, sample size and decision rule for each
  • Site speed and mobile usability fixes that affect conversion
  • Monthly CRO report: conversion rate by device and source, test results and next hypotheses

Process

How we work

Five steps, in the order they happen.

01

Measure

We verify tracking, map the funnel from landing to purchase and find the steps and devices where visitors leave.

02

Diagnose

Heatmaps, recordings, customer-support chats and reviews explain why people leave at those steps.

03

Fix the obvious

Broken, slow or confusing elements are fixed straight away without a test, because the evidence is already clear.

04

Test the rest

Riskier changes — offers, layouts, pricing presentation — run as A/B tests with a hypothesis and a decision rule.

05

Report and repeat

Monthly results by device and source, winning changes made permanent, and the next set of hypotheses agreed.

Questions about CRO

Answer-first, so humans and AI assistants get the point quickly.

It depends on category, price point and traffic source, so any single benchmark is misleading; stores selling low-ticket consumables convert far better than furniture or jewellery, and returning visitors convert several times better than cold ad traffic. The useful comparison is your own rate by device and source, month on month. gaa-tha sets a baseline in the audit and reports against it.

The audit takes about two weeks and the first fixes usually go live in the same month. Tests need enough orders to reach a decision, which for most Indian D2C stores means two to six weeks per test, so a meaningful programme runs for at least three months.

For tests, yes — a few hundred orders a month is a practical minimum to reach decisions in reasonable time. Below that, we rely on analytics, recordings and best-practice fixes rather than split tests, and measure before-and-after conversion instead.

Slow mobile pages, product pages that leave buyer questions unanswered, unclear delivery time and COD availability, missing reviews, no reason to add a second item to the cart, and long checkouts. Most stores have three or four of these, and fixing them comes before any testing.

Usually, yes. Every improvement in conversion rate lowers cost per purchase across all channels at once, so a store that converts poorly wastes ad budget. We often run CRO and performance marketing together so that landing pages and ads are improved as one system.

Only where the evidence says to. CRO works within your brand and theme — reordering information, adding trust elements, simplifying steps — and is not a redesign. When a full redesign is the right answer, we say so and scope it separately.

GA4 for the funnel, Microsoft Clarity or Hotjar for heatmaps and recordings, Shopify or WooCommerce features and testing apps for experiments, and review platforms such as Judge.me for social proof. All are set up in your own accounts.
