The service

What is Multi-location Shopify & Local Delivery?

A multi-location Shopify store is a single ecommerce website that serves several physical outlets: the customer enters a pincode or chooses a store, the site shows what that outlet has in stock and can deliver, and the order is sent to that outlet to fulfil. It replaces the alternatives of one website per branch, or one central warehouse shipping everything by courier, for businesses whose products are made or held locally.

gaa-tha builds these for chains that sell fresh or heavy goods — sweets, snacks, bakery, dairy, pharmacy, groceries — and for franchise networks that want one brand storefront with outlet-level control. Each outlet gets its own WhatsApp order alerts, its own availability switches and its own delivery rules, while the brand keeps one catalogue, one price list and one set of reports.

Scope

What's included

  • Location or pincode-based store assignment with a serviceability check before checkout
  • Order routing logic to the assigned outlet using Shopify Locations and fulfilment rules
  • WhatsApp order notifications to each outlet, with order details and a confirmation step
  • Outlet-level availability toggles so a store can switch products off when they run out
  • Prepaid-only or COD rules per outlet, per pincode or per order value
  • Unified pricing and promotions across outlets, with optional outlet-specific offers
  • Local delivery, pick-up and slot options with delivery charges by distance or zone
  • Outlet dashboard and staff roles so each store sees only its own orders
  • Reporting by outlet: orders, revenue, cancellations and delivery times

Process

How we work

Five steps, in the order they happen.

01

Map the network

We list every outlet, its pincodes or delivery radius, opening hours, product range and who takes the order, then define the routing rules.

02

Design the location flow

The pincode or store-picker experience is designed so a customer knows within seconds which outlet will serve them and what it can deliver.

03

Build routing and notifications

Shopify Locations, fulfilment rules, WhatsApp alerts, availability toggles and prepaid or COD rules are built and tested outlet by outlet.

04

Train the outlets

Store staff get a short guide and a walkthrough for confirming, packing and closing orders, plus a rule for what to do when a product runs out.

05

Launch and expand

The site goes live with a pilot set of outlets, edge cases are fixed in the first two weeks, and new outlets are added from a template.

Questions about Multi-location Shopify

Answer-first, so humans and AI assistants get the point quickly.

Yes. A multi-location Shopify build lets a customer enter a pincode or pick an outlet, and routes the order to that store with its own notification, stock availability and payment rules. The brand keeps one domain, one catalogue and one set of reports. gaa-tha builds and maintains these for chains and franchise networks across India.

The customer's pincode or chosen store is matched to an outlet during checkout, the order is assigned to that Shopify location, and a WhatsApp message with the order details goes to the outlet's number. Staff confirm from their phone or the outlet dashboard, and the customer receives the usual order and dispatch updates.

Outlet staff switch the product off for their location from a simple toggle, and it stops showing as available to customers in that outlet's pincodes while staying live elsewhere. Rules can also fall back to a nearby outlet or to central dispatch if you prefer.

The default is unified pricing across the brand, which most chains want for trust and simplicity. Outlet-specific offers, delivery charges and minimum order values can be added where a franchise agreement or local competition needs them.

Yes. Prepaid-only or COD rules can be set per outlet, per pincode or per order value, which is useful for new outlets, far-away pincodes and high-value orders where returns to origin hurt.

Three to six weeks for the first set of outlets, depending on how many locations there are, whether the catalogue differs by outlet and which delivery and payment rules you need. Once the template exists, adding a new outlet usually takes days rather than weeks.

Yes. Each franchisee can receive and fulfil only their own orders, see only their own reports and settle with the brand on whatever terms you agree, while the customer sees one brand and one checkout. We document the roles and the settlement view before building.
